Button Workshop for the Knitters!
Sunday, January 18th & January 25th 1:00pm both days. Participants sign up for both days
60$ Per participant, This is a 2 meeting session workshop!
We’re going to try something kind of new with this one. There is a lot of crossover between the clay and textile community, and we have a bit of a fabric history being in the old quilt shop, so I thought that this may be fun. We are going to do a ceramic button workshop, where the first day session we will spend the time making enough buttons to finish a garment. Either a sweater, a scarf, a shawl, whatever it may be and work on making 6-8 buttons for your project. We will work on texture, shape, underglaze color, or pattern transfers to dress them up. After we fire your buttons during the week, you will come back to glaze them on the second day! Normally we do the glazing for participants, but this way you can really use the colors that you want and fit them perfectly into your design! And just fyi, we have also been thinking of a stitch and bitch knitters group where we will have the equivalent to a book group, only where we can come to knit as a group….. Stay tuned!
Participants will learn some new hand-building skills and each will make some handmade buttons during the session and decorate them with slip, underglaze, texture, and underglaze patterns. The second date listed will be the time to come back and glaze your buttons!
